Representation stays within that branch's share
If a child died before the person leaving the estate, that child's children or spouse may take the child's place. More representatives do not increase the branch's total share.

Three points to know
If a child died before the person leaving the estate, that child's children or spouse may take the child's place. More representatives do not increase the branch's total share.
The spouse is calculated as receiving 1.5 times the share of one child. Within a predeceased child's branch, that child's spouse likewise receives 1.5 times the share of one grandchild. All grandchildren are assumed to be alive and eligible to inherit.
Wills, lifetime gifts, care contributions, debts or renunciation may change the actual shares. If relationships are complex or disputed, take the documents to a legal professional. This calculation is not legal advice or representation.
