The calculation you need, step by step

Child support calculator

Check average child support by income and age band, and the non-custodial parent's contribution, using the Seoul Family Court's 2021 guidelines.

Information needed

Enter amounts in Korean won (KRW), without commas. Do not enter names or resident registration numbers.

If both parents have income, a reference percentage is: non-custodial parent's income ÷ parents' combined income × 100.

After changing an entry, calculate again. This calculator does not transmit or store your entries.

Reading the latest publicly available table by band

The publicly available version checked at Seoul Family Court on November 7, 2026 (KST) was the 2021 child support guidelines. Announced on December 22, 2021 and effective March 1, 2022, the table and commentary were also posted by the court in July 2026. This calculator uses the original 66 average support values, not a table relabelled with a different year.

Select the cell where the parents' combined average monthly gross income band meets the child's age band. No interpolation between income bands or arbitrary increase is applied. The amount displayed is the average support for that cell, not a fixed award based on the upper or lower bounds also shown in the court's original table.

Standard support and the non-custodial parent's share

The table gives average support per child in a four-person household with two dependent children. The full standard amount is not automatically what the other parent must pay. This tool multiplies one child's standard support by the contribution percentage you enter. Calculate each child separately and add the results, considering any adjustments for the number of children separately.

In the court's example, combined income of KRW 4.5 million and a child aged 8 give average support of KRW 1.14 million. A 60% contribution is KRW 684,000. For a child aged 15 in the same household, average support is KRW 1,402,000. Applying 60% to both children's combined amounts gives KRW 1,525,200.

Why this cannot replace a court's decision

Adjustments may reflect parents' property, place of residence, number of children, major medical or education expenses, or personal rehabilitation. Having no income does not automatically remove the duty to support a child. If both incomes are zero, seek individual advice rather than mechanically setting the contribution to zero. The table alone does not determine support for those aged 19 or over, past support, disputed contribution ratios or special care costs. It is not a legally binding schedule of fixed awards.
